West MacDonnell Ranges - Ghost Gum Walk in Ormiston Gorge Walk

After a great meal around the fire last night & a good nights sleep we woke to another warm day - 30 deg!    Decided to head off early for our walk before it got too hot.   The drive to the walk was only 11 kms away.   The walk was up stairs, along mountain goat tracks, great viewing platform, over boulders & along the river bank & was a 1.5 hour walk (we allowed 2 hours as I am slower than others & I was walking with someone who liked to take a lot of photos 😂)

The walk was quite interesting & I managed quite well.   The views were spectacular & even better from the viewing platform.   A little windy on the first side of the gorge (thought I would get blown off) but was great once we reached the top.

Down hill was an easy walk & the path, although close to the edge, was a little wider than the one where Dean & I had our “small” panic attack 😀so I got down without any worries 😜

The path down to waterhole

We eventually we reached the waterhole down in the Gorge.   Beautiful down there but then had to scramble over quite a few rocks & boulders.  I did need a little help from Tony on some of these but eventually reached another waterhole with a Sandy beach.  The last part towards home was easy along a paved path & we rewarded ourselves with an ice-cream 🍦 we also bought some scones for lunch to take back to camp 🤫

The scrambling over the boulders wasn’t easy for me 🤦‍♀️

Dead fish all around this waterhole 🐟

Finally at the waterhole
