Mataranka

Rafferty rules here - arrived around 11.30 & not many powered sites available but managed 2 together on the old airfield.   Very hot now so grateful for power & aircon.   After setting up we walked over to the thermal pool, surrounded by beautiful palm trees.  Fantastic floating on our noodles in warm water until a young lad swam under me & knocked me - naturally I screamed & everyone turned around to see what the problem was.  I was thinking about crocodiles at the time ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Not long after I floated backwards into a man & screamed in his ear ๐Ÿ˜‚. Then unfortunately had a problem with my feet & had to get out pretty quick! But the thermal pools are great!

Lazy morning & off to Bitter Springs for a float down the thermal springs on our noodles.   Different setting but still surrounded by palm trees & great board walk to get there.  We were told the bakery was pretty good so had to stop & buy their famous Mataranka chunky pie & long John (like a Kitchener bun) for lunch.  Yum!

Happy hour at kiosk with band playing & back to camp to cook the on the fire.

After a leisure lunch & internet time we headed back to thermal pool for another swim.  Kept running into some lovely people (Heather & Nick) from Hindmarsh Island.  1 drink at the bar on the way home & back for a platter & Jude’s Beef bake.

After tea back to the open bar & watched the band until Nathan the whip cracker came on stage.  Unbelievable entertainment, cracked the whip to the music, danced with the whips & used people from the audience in his act.   After a great nights entertainment back to the van for coffee & bed.(of course Jude & I had to have our photo taken with him ๐Ÿ˜œ)
