Daly River - Barramundi Fishing

Boys were up at 5am this morning ready to board the boat charter to go barramundi fishing.   Dean & Tony headed off in their new fishing shirts (purchased from the op shop for $5) in the hope of catching a barramundi ๐ŸŸ Jude & I slept in for a change ๐Ÿ˜‚

Evidently the ride on the river to the fishing spot was unbelievable & obviously the skipper knew what he was doing.   The incoming tide was different as well & looked like a wave heading towards them which covered the rocks & logs in no time!

Unfortunately Tony’s big Barra jumped off the line & Dean’s big cat fish wasn’t a keeper ๐Ÿ˜ข but they had fun trying.   There were 2 other men in the boat, one of which caught a 56 cm barra which he got to keep.

After lunch we managed to go on our IPads & live stream Geoff’s funeral - we were lucky our service was good this afternoon & managed to listen to the whole service.  There were many tears & laughter & after the service we had a champagne to celebrate Geoff’s life & spent the afternoon remembering all the things he did in life.  Margaret did an amazing speech talking about their life together & Claire & Juli were amazing remembering the times they had with their much loved Dad. We were sorry we couldn’t have been there in person.

Dinner came around rather quickly & althouh they didn’t catch any fish, we were lucky enough to still have Barra for dinner.   Stu the charter operator, bought over some frozen Barra & we added some flathead Tony had caught on another charter.    We had plenty to eat.  After dinner the men on the fishing charter & their wives, (John & Jenny & James & Julie) came over for a drink before bed.  It was quite a long day & tomorrow we move further south to Katherine.
